How to Photograph a Lunar Eclipse
Save the date! On the night of March 13-14, 2025, a total lunar eclipse will be visible throughout North America.
This presentation will help you plan where, when and how to shoot the lunar eclipse. You’ll learn how to use Photo Ephemeris Web to determine where the moon will be in the sky when the eclipse begins, when totality begins and ends, and when the eclipse ends. This information will help you plan a “string of pearls” image showing all the phases of the eclipse in one composite image.
You’ll also learn how to make correct exposures during each phase of the eclipse, including tips on making sharp images during deepest totality, when the moon is quite dim. Finally, you’ll learn how to combine your moon images with a photo of the landscape below to create a spectacular image that captures the awesome experience of witnessing this rare event.
