Our Favorite Places to Photograph Auroras

The solar maximum is upon us and the frequency of auroral activity is off the charts!

The last couple of years have brought colorful lights well below the 47th parallel, giving more people the opportunity to witness the grandeur and awe of the northern lights. However, the farther north (or south) we go—the closer we get to practically touching the green fairies.

In this presentation, National Parks at Night instructor and aurora chaser Gabriel Biderman will share his favorite places to experience auroras. Gabe will discuss best seasons, weather considerations, locations and where to base yourself so you can make a quick dash to the best compositions once the sky lights up.

Special attention will be paid to finding the best compositions in multiple directions so you can create a variety of images as the auroras dance through the night skies.
