Stitches in Time: Creating Nightscape Timelapses

Stitches in Time: Creating Nightscape Timelapses

We all love photographing the night sky, but capturing the motion of the stars as they pass overhead is where the real magic begins. Still images capture a moment in time, but capturing the experience of an entire night watching the stars move overhead is perhaps the most magical thing you can do with a camera.

Join timelapse extraordinaire Nate Luebbe as he discusses all you need to know to get started with night sky timelapses of both stars and the northern lights. In this presentation he’ll start from zero, discussing the theory and calculations necessary to set up your timelapse and to work all the way through a finished edit!

Nate will cover everything you need to know, including:

  • exposure intervals
  • shooting duration
  • shutter speed
  • managing exposure for changing conditions (day-to-night transitions and aurora timelapses)
  • importing and editing in LRTimelapse
  • final touches and adding dolly motion

If you’ve ever taken an image of the night sky then you have all the skills needed to take timelapses of the night sky! Join Nate for the next step forward in your astro-landscape journey.
